Normally one would think a charter boat is worn, beaten and in need of TLC. Well, nothing is farther from the truth with Stargazer. Everything from the winches being serviced, bilge pumps look after, sails safely stored, brightwork maintained and even the holding tank and pumps serviced. This vessel is in much better condition than if it was owned by a single person unless they happened to be that rare breed that is dedicated to maintaining all the systems on their vessel to a high standard. The Bavaria 43 Cruiser was nominated for the European Boat of the Year award when she was launched. She has all the right features for cruising. The three cabin layout is amazingly flexible. The owners cabin has an enormous v-berth with an en-suit head and shower. The two stern cabins can be used on there own, or the moveable bulkhead can create one smaller and one larger cabin as well as being removed completely for a giant rear cabin. The aft head allows for additional privacy and has a separate shower stall. The living area is spacious, bright, and functional. The large U-shaped dinette can seat 6 adults comfortably and the galley has all the essentials from a propane stove and oven, refrigerator, freezer and microwave. Included is a powerful Espar hydronic forced air heater as well as a full cockpit enclosure making this a true year-round cruiser. Recent upgrades include and oversized Rocna anchor that ensures a good sleep and a 400W solar array to keep thinks working on longer trips.
As a sailing vessel the Bavaria 43 Cruiser is confident and powerful. Dual wheels let you steer from the high side with increased visibility and comfort and the hull maintains its course with little effort on the helm. All sheets are conveniently led aft and the in mast and roller furling make sail handling manageable for this large and efficient sail plan. She excels off the wind providing a feeling of strength and confidence and the folding propeller ensures maximum efficiency under sail. The large cockpit has lots of space for the captain and crew and the fully enclosed cockpit provides complete and flexible protection from the weather. With a bow thruster, radar and many extras Stargazer needs nothing before setting sail.
All in all, this is a great cruising sailboat that took the current owners and their children around Vancouver Island and is a favorite for chartering.
