scott@calibreyachts.comThe Nordic Tug 32 has long been admired as a capable and dependable coastal cruiser. The Sandpiper II is efficient, seaworthy, and designed specifically with the Pacific Northwest in mind. It’s a boat that inspires confidence while offering the classic, recognizable lines that Nordic Tugs are known for.
SandPiper II, is a 1994 Nordic Tug 32 with a striking fire-engine red hull and cream trim that turns heads in every harbour. Its compact enough to handle with ease, yet tough and proven on extended runs ranging from Anacortes Washington, the entire BC Coastline including beautiful Desolation Sound, Haida Gwaii, to Alaska and more.
Its dependable Cummins 210 hp diesel shows 6,000 hours, reflecting purposeful cruising rather than idle dock time. At 8–10 knots it burns just 2–3 gallons per hour, combining economy with range. These hours prove Sandpiper II is reliable and demonstrates that it has been exercised and maintained exactly as a Nordic Tug should be.
Bow thrusters, wide side decks, and the raised pilothouse with 360° visibility make Sandpiper ll straightforward to handle in any conditions. Inside an Espar diesel heater ensures comfort for true four-season cruising.
It is fully outfitted for independent travel with solar charging, an EFOY fuel-cell system, a 2,500-watt inverter, new house batteries (2024), and a Blue Sea automatic charging relay (ACR) for seamless power management. The Rocna anchor with 200 feet of all-chain rode and electric windlass provide serious ground tackle for anchorages.
Electronics are modernized with an AIS added in 2024, Raymarine chart plotter, a full set of physical charts, and a Raymarine radar system installed in 2010, and full dome replacement in 2024 with a warranty replacement in 2025.
Shore access is easy with a Gala 300A RIB tender (2022 model, purchased new in 2023) and Suzuki 9.9hp electric-start outboard, managed with a manual Sea-Wise davit system (2023). The Seawise design is simple, quick, and reliable — no motors to fail, making deployment and retrieval effortless even when single-handed. The swim platform with ladder adds both utility and a touch of fun for swimming and water sports.
