SALINA-J

There are two things to ask an offshore sailboat: Will you get me there safely? Will you get me there in comfort? SALINA-J says, “Oh yeah! Let’s sail ALL the seas!”

She was designed with both form and function in mind. She’s a cutter-rigged, centre cockpit, full-keel ship with clean lines. Her keel helps her track well in a crossing, the berths are snug, the systems are simple and robust. Everything about this boat says, “Let’s get offshore!”

Given that she was only launched in 2018, she has a lot of history. A labour of love, the steel hull was built in 1985. The steel was USA, pre-primed, weldable, and professionally done. Then she sat for years. Eventually work began anew, and she was outfitted by all the good people: Blackline for the rigging, Leitch & McBride for the sails, and a local craftsman/artist for the interior. Everything was completed to a meticulously high standard.

The champagne hit the bow in 2018 to much fanfare and delight. A 2019 Solé 33HP engine was installed, and there have only been 54 hours put on it since then. Though she was built with a family of four in mind, she was also built for single handing, as all good offshore boats should be.

The interior is bright and gleaming. Honduran mahogany is varnished to a high shine. Yellow cedar accents here and there remind you that she’s a West Coast girl. Soft green upholstery will give you something to look at besides blue when you’re surrounded by blue water and blue skies (a Lin Pardey trick).

This Pastime 36 is a boat that wants to get you out there. She’s sturdy and safe, clean and comfortable. She’s an honest ship. So, if you want to sail the seven seas too, give me a call and I’ll introduce you to SALINA-J.
