Hoka Hey is a well loved and cared for Hunter Legend 37 sloop with a host of recent upgrades the next owners will appreciate and value. Sought after for its roomy and comfortable interior space, dual cabin design, and solid sailing performance.
The Legend 37 is both a racer and cruiser in the truest sense of the sailing hybrid. Capable of being competitive in club competition and sailing when winds are light and others are using the ‘iron sail’. It provides privacy and comfort on a weeklong cruise with friends and family. Its racer heritage assures satisfying speeds and performance while its below-decks accommodations will encourage friends and family less interested in competition to stay aboard a bit longer. This boat is equally at home in both worlds.
Recent upgrades include;
New fully battened mainsail with Tides Marine track and UK Lazy Cradle system
New rigid hull inflatable tender
New anchor, chain, and rode
New house and starter batteries
New throttle and shift cables
New bottom paint and zincs
Canvas new in 2018
Lifelines new in 2017 included re-bedding stanchions
Overall the current owner of 20 years has continued to care and upgrade Hoka Hey in such a way that new owners can start their own adventure immediately.

Engine #1
The helm has a destroyer-style wheel, and pedestal with a Navman chart plotter. The canvas was new in 2018 with full companion way coverage with window covers, bimini over the steering station and centre canvas section to cover the entire cockpit at anchor or on the dock. The large cockpit can seat 6 and has custom-fit cushions. Side decks are wide and easy to transit fore and aft. The lifelines were replaced in 2017 and the stations were re-bedded at the same time.
New in 2021 is a fully battened mainsail, upgraded running rigging, UK Lazy Cradle System, and Tides Marine mast track that all work together to enhance performance and ease of sail handling.
Comes with a roller furling headsail and an ATN Tacker to make spinnaker management easier. All in all, a well-thought-out and refined sail plan that will deliver years of great service.
Spacious and comfortable is what Hunter accomplished with the interior layout of the Legend 37.
Starting in the bow is the forward cabin with a generous V-berth, hanging locker, and a convenient vanity with sink. The saloon has a drop-leaf table and a circular seating pattern that encourages socializing. The full length settee is comfortable and the port side can be used as a single berth. The headroom is 6 feet 3 inches in the main cabin and the entire interior has been reupholstered with low maintenance and easy-to-clean vinyl. There is plenty of storage below and behind seats and an upgraded TV with HDMI port. The DVD player shown is not currently functional.
The U-shaped galley to port features a two-basin stainless steel sink, top-loading Norcold refrigerator, Thetford 2 burner stove with oven, adequate storage, counter space, and lots of drawers to keep things organized.
The starboard navigator’s station has a hinged desk drawer and various storage compartments. The head to starboard has a sink, shower as well as a manual marine toilet.
The aft berth, located beneath the cockpit, has a pedestal double bed that can be reached from either side through the cabin door aft of the galley or through the head to starboard. The pedestal bed eliminates having to disturb the other person when coming and going. There are his-and-hers hanging lockers on either side with storage cabinets and shelves running to the stern.
Hoka Hey has a suite of electronics focused on functional basics. Navman Tracker 5505 with integrated charts is transferable from the helm pedestal to the navigation table depending on your preference. Furuno radar, depth sounder, Uniden VHF and 4” Richie compass provide all the necessities for accurate navigation around the coast.
Two house batteries and a starter battery are all new in 2021. They are charged through the alternator as well as a smart battery charger. Comes with a 50’ shore power cord with several adapters. All interior lights upgraded to LED’s.
New spare alternator is included
