Boat Description

The Mainship 34 Trawler has a great layout for the Pacific Northwest with upper and lower helm stations and a bright interior with great visibility for all-weather cruising in comfort.

The current and previous owners have invested almost $35,000 since 2013 to make the Barclay Explorer a safe and reliable cruiser. Life circumstances have created a need to sell, and the next owner will have a much smaller to-do list thanks to the investments made to date.

Mainship trawlers are well-respected cruisers in the PNW. The Barclay Explorer has been to Alaska and back on more than one occasion and its new owners will enjoy the functionality and classic layout while enjoying all the amazing places to cruise and anchor in the Pacific Northwest.

The current owner purchased the Barclay Explorer last spring. They appreciated the upgrades the previous owner had completed including installing bow and stern thrusters, upgrading all lighting to LED, new battery charger, anchor roller, anchor and ground tackle, new canvas, dinghy davits, new Honda outboard(2014), Lowrance chart plotters (2014), house batteries (2020) etc. All told, approximately $20,000 in quality upgrades since 2013.

Since taking ownership last spring the existing owner spent almost $15,000 on additional maintenance focusing on ensuring the Perkins diesel was in top shape. Upgrades include all injectors rebuilt, new exhaust manifold with 2 zinc plates, collector and riser rebuilt, charge intercooler, rebuilt seawater pump, service oil cooler, oil flush and change, replace bilge hose, forced air heater checked, propane system hooked up, turbocharger rebuilt, new zincs on heat exchanger, new thermostat, new alternator, new starter battery, and a host of others.

The Barclay Explorer is an older boat with good bones and a host of thoughtful upgrades and maintenance.

On Deck

The upper helm station has a bimini cover to keep you out of the sun and is a fantastic place to operate the boat on warmer days.  Below, the rear cockpit with its hard-top cover is a great spot for fishing or just sitting out in deck chairs while at anchor.

There is a large swim platform where the dinghy is stored with a boarding ladder added in 2016.

Interior

The main saloon offers a nice-sized sofa to port that converts into a double berth, and a dining table to starboard with bench seats for enjoying meals.

Forward is the lower helm station and a step down to the U-shaped galley with propane stove and oven, large stainless steel sinks, NovaCool AC/DC fridge/freezer combo and plenty of storage.

Across from the galley, to starboard, is the head with composting toilet, sink and shower area.

The forward cabin has a single bunk and double bunk, hanging lockers and additional storage under the bunk.
